CONGENITAL SINGLE CORONARY ARTERY: A RARE ANOMALY
Keywords:
Coronary artery anomalies (CAAs), Single coronary artery, Multi detector computed tomographic angiography (MDCTA)Abstract
Congenital coronary artery anomalies (CAAs) affect approxim ately 1% o f general population undergoing coronary angiography. The incidence o f single coronary artery is very rare specially in the absence o f any structural heart disease and accounts for 0.024% - 0.044% o f cases. This case report describes a single coronary artery arising from right aortic cusp w hich was trifurcating into right coronary artery (RCA), circum flex artery (CX) and left anterior descending artery (LAD). The left anterior descending (LAD) followed a m alignant course between m ain pulm onary artery and aorta m aking it vulnerable to ischaemia.
The advantage o f m ulti detector com puted tom ographic angiography (MDCTA) lies prim arily in its high diagnostic and anatom ic accuracy because of its three dimensional (3D) capability and flexible post processing.
